The Food Diaries: KOPPU - Ramen Concept Food

Image
Introducing The Food Diaries - sharing my food experiences through photographs and a few words. A few weeks ago, I went to a ramen restaurant and it was a-ma-zing! Koppu has been on my wishlist for sometime now and it did match the expectations I had. For starters, we ordered some gyozas , tebasaki and shitake mushrooms. I had the gyozas and they were perfect; the meat inside was juicy, the noodle/outer shell (whatever you call that part) was soft and it was overall a very good start to our meal. I also tried the tebasaki : fried chicken wings, the touch of sesame seeds and soy sauce made them delicious. (The comments on the mushrooms were also very positive.) On to the main dish: ramen!! I had the tan tan men original ramen, the spiciest on the menu (I would have used a little tiny bit more spicy sauce but that's just me). The noodles were perfect, the pork was very tasty and the broth was absolutely delicious!!! You can't go wrong with this o...

The travel diaries: Japanese Impressions part 3

This has got to be the most physically challenging thing I have done so far. Sports aren't my thing and yet I thought "Let's do this". My friends were crazy enough to agree and the four of us set out to climb Mount Fuji. That's right. Climb. Mount Fuji. At 3,776m, it is Japan's tallest mountain. We didn't hike all the way, we started around 2,000m but it was a real challenge.  Of course, Albus tagged along.  It took us 8hrs to reach the summit and witness a trully beautiful sunrise. Cheers to the Chinese ladies who told us to turn around and witness it at the perfect moment! Contemplating my surroundings and realising I had made it to the top.  These are all unedited photographs. Yes, the morning light made them too bright but I wanted to show you all how it looked, just as close to the real deal as possible. Funny thing: as Albus was posing for the pictures, a group of Japanese people came by and saw him and s...

The travel diaries: Japanese Impressions part 1

Image
This summer I went to Japan for two weeks with three friends. Japan is a very interesting country, functional, organised, full of suprises. The trip started in Tokyo. Easy, right? We started with a stroll to get ourselves familiar with this new city. First dinner was sushi and boy was it amazing!!!! Albus had so much fun!  After dinner, we headed out to Shibuya to witness the huge mass of people cross all at once. It was impressive, specially if seen from the balcony of Starbucks. The next day we went to Ginza, Tokyo University and Sensō-ji. The day ended with a climb up Tokyo SkyTree. The view is impressive, specially since we decided to do it at sunset. Sadly, there were some clouds and we couldn't get a clear view of Mount Fuji (but I am pointing towards it). This is it for now. I'll be sharing some more pictures soon, soon!! :) M
