Bucket List

Image
Today I saw the first exhibition in 25 years of a very important portuguese artist: José de Almada Negreiros. For those who studied even just a little of Portugal's 20th century history, this is a familiar name. He was not only a painter but he also made drawings, cartoons, story boards, movie posters, stained glass, ceramics, coreographed ballets... He even worked for Paramount Pictures. He was part of a group of artists that defined the new aesthetic for the portuguese art scene in the 20th century. Although a wonderfully curated exhibition, the best moment to me was seeing in real life a painting called "Maternity". I had only seen it in my History books. And there it was. The characteristic voluptuous woman, the massive feet and the oh so delicate facial features of both the mother and child... there's no photo I can take that makes this painting justice, so just go ahead and see it. One more ✔ on the bucket list! Museu Calouste Gulbenkian, Lisbon. F...

No light, no light

There really is some. The light in late afternoon really makes photographs look magic. And these were taken in a place that has an amazing atmosphere at the end of the day. Bunny Sweater: OYSHO Lace Skirt: ZARA XOXO, M

Lover's Eyes

As I look at the pictures, I can't seem to avoid smilling. Pictures are a great way to see how others see you and I really like the way F saw me when we took these. Plus, we were on one of my favourite places in Lisbon: Chiado.  Also, Mumford and Sons' song comes to mind and I just love it! The beginning of a new year brings the birthday of my dear boyfriend and, since I like to plan something special, looking for a nice restaurant was a task I needed to undertake. Lisbon has an enormous variety of restaurants to choose from and this time I wanted to take F out for a good meal, in a good place. Being that this beautiful city of mine is located near the river, my choice fell on a restaurant with either a terrace or a nice view of the coastline. The title of the post is a quote taken from  The Expression of Emotion in Man and Animals , by Mr.Charles Darwin, and fits the subject perfectly, since we had lunch at Darwin's Cafe. Located in the Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown (Algés), Darwin's Cafe is a beautiful restaurant with modern decoration and a relaxed atmosphere, while still maintaining a touch of sophistication. Besides the interior room there's a beautiful terrace, perfect for a coffee or tea (meals are only served inside).   Pictures...
