The travel diaries: Hong Kong part 1

Image
After two weeks of Japan, it was time to head to more familiar territories. Albus and I made our way to Hong Kong. In 2016, I spent only a few hours in Hong Kong, meeting a friend for dinner. This time, I was determined to explore a little more. Even if I had to face rain and thunders. Hong Kong is a very easy city to navigate. The transportation system is super convenient and works wonderfully. On day one, it was time to visit the Ladies' Market and stroll around. Rain, go away! After walking around Central, it was time to hike The Peak. You'd think I had enough of trails and mountains by now. My friends had other plans. Good thing we did it, the views were beautiful.   Day two was all about exploring Man Mo Temple, one of Hong Kong's main attractions. Afterwards, it was time to walk around town. Day three was about exploring the neighbouring islands. I picked Lamma Island. Get yourself a ...

Follow my blog with Bloglovin And time has come to say goodbye to Japan. This is the final post, about our final day. We reserved a very special trip for the last day. The four us took Albus to see Nikko. And these are some of the photographs we took. Up to this point, we followed the traditional trail. We saw a trail that would lead us to a waterfall and thought "Why not?". Looks like the setting of a Tolkien book. The day didn't end well. Boys went on ahead and girls stayed behind. A car stopped and a middle aged japanese man invited Mariana and I to get in, to take cover. The scenario seems frightening and I didn't tell my parents about this until I was bac...

This has got to be the most physically challenging thing I have done so far. Sports aren't my thing and yet I thought "Let's do this". My friends were crazy enough to agree and the four of us set out to climb Mount Fuji. That's right. Climb. Mount Fuji. At 3,776m, it is Japan's tallest mountain. We didn't hike all the way, we started around 2,000m but it was a real challenge.  Of course, Albus tagged along.  It took us 8hrs to reach the summit and witness a trully beautiful sunrise. Cheers to the Chinese ladies who told us to turn around and witness it at the perfect moment! Contemplating my surroundings and realising I had made it to the top.  These are all unedited photographs. Yes, the morning light made them too bright but I wanted to show you all how it looked, just as close to the real deal as possible. Funny thing: as Albus was posing for the pictures, a group of Japanese people came by and saw him and s...
