The travel diaries: China - Sūzhōu

After flying from Xī'ān to Shànghǎi, we headed to Sūzhōu, the Venice of China.

Known for its sumptuous gardens and canals, it is a nice day/overnight trip if you're ever near Shànghǎi (and have the time to spare, of course).

I have to admit: from this point onwards, our trip was constantly changing, as we added more places to visit and changed hotels and arrival dates. Our life saving hack was Booking.com and its free cancelation policy. 

Initially we were going to stay elsewhere, but ended up at The Waterfront Hostel. Very simple, clean and nicely decorated, and with the cutest little mascot ever!!!


There was also a Golden Retriever, also super nice and friendly!!

We rented bikes at the hostel, went for a ride without destination, it started raining and we had to wait for it to stop, under a pavillion, watching the river and the boats pass by.
We visited one of many gardens, saw the Temple of Mystery and wandered the streets (on foot and by bike).


Right after (or before, I don't really remember) the rain. It was nice watching the water stir and the boats passing.


The hardest restaurant to find, the hardest place to order some food but...boy, it was worth it!


Time to visit one of the gardens, The Lion Forest Garden.


This was our 24 hour stay in Sūzhōu.
It was time to return to Shànghǎi and really explore the city. And celebrate my birthday :)

Recently, the brand launched their Smoky Poppy line, with Turkish poppies and just in time for Valentine's day. 5 fashion things having a job has taught me

Ever since I finished college and started working, some changes have happened in my fashion life. I am the youngest member of the staff, this is my first (almost) full time job and the environment, although casual and laid back, requires a certain discretion and poise on my part. #1 Working at a school and having to deal with the parents as well as with the kids, cleavage/see-throughs/extremely short shorts and skirts are frowned upon. The first two are just rude in a school environment. As for skirts and shorts, I wear them a lot during winter (with tights!), but it becomes tricky in spring. I only wear them when it's to warm to consider anything else. Harem/aladdin pants are also acceptable. Just remember: the shorter the bottoms, the more coverage you should have on your top, going for a boat or round neck tshirt. #2 Balance your makeup. I struggled a little with this one. Colour wishes

With the months passing by and the light of summer holidays shinning brighter at the end of the tunel, i want colour. And light fabrics. I want the warmth of spring as it it slowly transitions into summer and shorts and high-heeled sandals. As always, I'm in love with the same brands. And I'm also trying to get away from my comfort colours and turning to brighter vivid tones, as yellow and red. OYSHO 's bikinis are lovely as always and it's going to be tough pickig just one. ZARA has had major improvements over the last seasons, making it hard for me to buy just what I need. The dress seems so fresh and the pants make me look slim and taller. Plus, anything with an oriental print is a winner with me! I'm addicted to bags; my parents have said this for years and I know it to be true.
