The travel diaries: Japanese Impressions part 6

Osaka. Our last "base camp" before heading back to Tokyo.

Street art, neons, western signs everywhere, colour... Osaka was full of life. Not my favourite place in Japan, but definitely interesting.

Dumbledore got the best pictures during the trip, lucky man!
Also, the Osaka Castle is definitely worth the visit.

Conveyor belt sushi was such a fun experience. Don't be fooled by the low prices per plate, we ended up paying almost as much as we'd pay here in Lisbon. Sushi is not cheap, what makes the difference is the quality of the fish, how fresh it is, even if you're going for cheaper establishments (by japanese standards).

This day was actually the eve of my birthday, so we took a walk around the Dotonbori area.

Drinking at Bar Freedom. Found on our LP guide, it's a great place to hang out. Beware though, it's quite small and you should arrive early.

Amerika-mura. Murals, a Statue of Liberty (see the above picture), lamp posts that look like articulated human figures...and all the brands and stores you'd find in any western country.

As a birthday treat, I went and grabbed the famous rainbow cotton candy. Tastes like any other, it's just really pretty. Birthday splurge.

Alice on Wednesday. An Alice in Wonderland themed boutique.

Back to Dotonbori, with its canals and lights and oddly shaped buildings.

Oh, and one last photograph...

Because no trip to Japan is complete without videogames. :) By this time, we'd been to several of these stores, in Tokyo, Kyoto and now, Osaka. The challenge is to not get tempted and buy everything you see.

This is it for Osaka. Next stop? Deer land, aka Nara.
