The travel diaries: Japanese Impressions part 4

I said this was my favourite city in Japan. It has everything I wanted to see in Japan and my only regret is that we didn't spend more time there.

Here is Kyoto, as seen by my lens.

We spent our first morning walking around the Imperial Palace Gardens. It wasn't crowded, it wasn't too hot when we arrive and the trees did provide a nice shade once it did get hot.

A small shrine and a tea drinking pavillion. You could barely hear anything other than the noises from the garden. Like and enchanted place that blocks all exterior sounds and transports you to an atmosphere of serenity and peace.

Find someone who looks at you like this man looks at his cat!

Care to guess where we went afterwards?

Ok, not exactly a tourist destination, but we had to go through Kyoto Station to get to next place. Even if you are not into modern architecture, this huge station still finds a way to amaze you.
Off we went and boarded a train to....

Arashiyama Bamboo Grove!! Yes, it is full of people. Yes, it is a major tourist attraction. But is it worth it? HELL YEAH!! And if you're patient enough, the crowds will move along and you get like 30secs to take pictures without people in them.

Wait for the afternoon to visit, the light is so beautiful. Albus really enjoyed it.

Also, save some time after the Bamboo Grove to visit the surrounding structures. You'll find many of them are listed as UNESCO sites.

One of the few zen gardens we saw.

The sun was setting, meaning it was time to go back to the city and have dinner.

Following Lonely Planet's food suggestions we found a great tempura-and-noodles place called Omen, in Kodai-ji. SO YUMMY!!!

After dinner we visited a temple and I shot the pictures above.

We ended the night looking for geishas in Ponto-Cho. The alleys and streets are beautiful and we did manage to see a geisha and a maiko. However, they did not stop for pictures so all that remains are the memories in our minds!

The river/canal and the lights reflected in the water.

Albus checking out the local nightlife. #AlbusAndMartaSeeTheWorld

Kyoto has some of the prettiest lanterns I have seen!

Well, this was day 1 in Kyoto. Stick around for the rest of the pictures.
